Privacy Policy

Retirement Account Balance Projector — the website at projector.noobingear.com and the iOS and Android apps of the same name.

Short version: this tool collects nothing. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party services. Every figure you type stays on the device you typed it on, and none of it is ever sent to me or to anyone else.

What is collected

Nothing. The projector has no sign-in, no server of its own, no database, and no analytics or crash-reporting service. I have no way to see the balances, ages, expenses or scenarios you enter, and no way to identify you as a user of the tool.

Where your figures are stored

Entirely on your own device, and only when you choose to save something:

On the website, saved scenarios and your light/dark theme choice are kept in your browser's localStorage for this site. Clearing your browser's site data for projector.noobingear.com deletes them.
In the apps, the same information is kept in the app's own private storage. Deleting the app deletes it.

Neither store is backed up to me or synced anywhere by the tool. Your device or operating system may include app data in its own backups (for example iCloud or Google device backup) according to your settings — that is between you and your device maker, and I never see it.

Network activity

The website is a single self-contained file. Loading it makes exactly one request — for the page itself. It contains no scripts, fonts, images or stylesheets from anywhere else, so no third party learns that you visited. Once loaded, it works offline.
The apps make no network requests at all. On Android the app declares the standard INTERNET permission because the React Native framework it is built on declares it; the app itself never uses it. It also declares VIBRATE, which is the small haptic tick when a slider lands.

Exporting a projection

Both versions can export a projection as a CSV file. The file is created on your device and goes only where you send it — a folder you pick, or an app you choose from the system share sheet. It is not uploaded anywhere by the tool.

Web hosting logs

The website is hosted on Netlify, which — like any web server — records ordinary request information such as IP address, timestamp and browser user-agent when a page is served. I use this for nothing, and it never contains anything you type into the tool, because nothing you type is ever transmitted. The apps do not contact this host at all.

Children

This is a retirement planning tool intended for adults. It is not directed at children and collects no information from anyone, including children.

Not financial advice

The projector is an estimation tool, not financial, tax or legal advice. Its modeling is deliberately simplified, and the assumptions are documented inside the tool itself under "How taxes, inflation & ACA are modeled". Check anything that matters with a qualified professional.

Changes

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted at this address with a new "last updated" date. Since the tool collects nothing, a change would most likely mean a new feature — and if one ever did involve sending data anywhere, it would be described here and would be something you opt into.
